  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 big bunch fresh basil leaves, picked from the stems
  • 1 tablespoon pine nuts
  • 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated Pecorino or Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil, approximately, plus more for the pan
  • Salt
  • 1 onion, cut in half
