  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pound, 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 6 tablespoons safflower oil
