The topping should be kept cold until ready to use; refrigerate in an airtight container, up to 5 days.



INGREDIENTS

  • 1 bag (12 ounces) frozen mixed berries
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Salt
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3 pounds (5 to 7) ripe pears, peeled and cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Vanilla ice cream, or frozen yogurt (optional)
