- 1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- Salt
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 3 pounds (5 to 7) ripe pears, peeled and cut into 3/4-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Vanilla ice cream, or frozen yogurt (optional)
