INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled, plus more for dusting
  • 3/4 cup sugar, plus 1 teaspoon for dusting
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated (about 2 lemons) lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups unblanched, whole almonds
  • 1/4 cup chopped crystallized ginger
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
