• 1/3 cup white wine or additional beef broth
• 1 medium potato, cut into large chunks
• 2 medium carrots, cut into chunks
• 1/4 pound fresh mushrooms, halved
• 1 bay leaf
• 4-1/2 teaspoons quick-cooking tapioca
• 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
