• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt, or to taste (use less of a fine sea salt)
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 1 1/2 cups whole milk
