• 12 Tbs. (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room
• temperature, cut into tablespoon-size pieces
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1 egg
• 10 oz. (about 2 1/4 cups) confectioners' sugar,
• sifted
• 2 egg whites
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
• Food coloring
