Waffles with Chocolate Fondue

INGREDIENTS

• 3 eggs, separated
• 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1 cup heavy cream
• 1 lb. chocolate fondue chips
• 2 to 3 Tbs. flavored liqueur, such as kirsch, amaretto or orange liqueur (optional)
